Contributions from the congregation and from the Mary Ramsay bequest have helped to support a number of local and national organizations as well as our international missionaries. Last month we highlighted the homeless shelter, Illinois Valley Pads. Our contributions have also gone to support Stronghold Conference Center, a place of history, of physical beauty, of myriad programs and of quiet contemplation.
Stronghold Center is a four season retreat and camping center north of Oregon, Illinois. Established in 1963 it continues today to provide a variety of Christian and secular programs, activities and events. The facility includes wilderness cabins, a camping area, dining and meeting rooms and 7 retreat houses that can accommodate 6 – 56 people. Unique programs include summer camps for kids aged 6-18, challenge course and confirmation retreats and well other usages. Church members have used the facility numerous times.
Thank you for your contributions that have done so much to support this Presbytery of Blackhawk facility. Through your contributions and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, so much is being done to assist this Center.
For our 2015 contributions we received a beautiful painting of the Stronghold castle. It has been posted on the Mission bulletin board. Enjoy this connection with Stronghold.
