Park Presbyterian Church has supported the Streatorland Food Pantry for many years. Let’s continue the One For Me and One For Thee program by bringing grocery items by August 7 to be turned over to the Food Pantry that week. Summer is a time when so many that need help are forgotten. Let us not forget them.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”(Matthew 25:35) One of Park Church ministries has been the Streatorland Food Pantry. Most of us are fortunate enough not to have to worry about where our next meal is coming from, however this is not true for many who live in our town. Many families rely on the food pantry. The Streatorland Food Pantry has been helping our community for over 20 years and every Monday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, the Pantry gives much needed food items to people in our community. Last month the Pantry was able to provide food to 255 families which fed 707 people. This food provided approximately 14,962 meals.
According to Gayle Wargo, a Park Church member and volunteer at the Pantry, the need seems to grow each month. The Food Pantry relies heavily on donations of money and food from the people of Streator. They also are blessed by Krogers, WalMart, Aldi’s, US Foods, and Entemanns with food donations each week. Park Church has been very generous by donating canned items and boxed goods and our ministry has also supported them with monetary donations. Please continue to support our Food Pantry by sharing food items or gifts of money. Once again, with your generosity, we at Park Church are acting as God’s hands in the heart of Streator. If you would like to help by volunteering some of your time, contact Gayle Wargo.
Thank you. Your Mission and Stewardship Committee
