Rev. David Tellinghuisen was ordained in 1988 by the Reformed Church in America (RCA) and is currently designated as an RCA Specialized Transition Minister (STM). He has been married to Kelly since 1985. They are the parents of Ryan and Laura, both in their 20s and to the delight of their parents both graduated from college. Pastor David has Presbyterian roots, having grown up and been nurtured in the faith in what was the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. He has a B. A. from Northwestern College (Orange City, IA) and a M. Div. from Western Theological Seminary (Holland, MI). He has lived throughout the Midwest (Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois), New York State, and Florida, where he and Kelly currently make their home.
His ministry has consisted of pastoring churches as a “settled” pastor in New York, Iowa, and Florida, and then shifting to interim/transitional ministry. He most recently has focused on coaching/mentoring/discipling individuals in areas ranging from personal enrichment to ministry development to integrating faith into life and business – especially emphasizing and encouraging ministry potential.
Within Blackhawk Presbytery, Pastor David has previously served as an Intern Minister (while a seminary student) at Third Presbyterian Church in Rockford and as an Interim Pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Mendota.
